Song Lyrics
I was sitting in class
Just waiting for the bell to ring
And then you came walking
with your friends
And I think I forgot to breathe
Yeah and it happened so fast
I was staring when you looked
back at me
And when you came over
to talk to me
I tried but I couldnt speak
Oh maybe I should i tell ya
But every single time
I get butterflies up in my stomach
When I look at you I feel a rush
I cant help it
Dont know what to do
I wanna come
Out of my shell
Walk right up you
But you give me butterflies
When I see you walk past
My heart skips a beat and i know
That you must be one special guy
Because most of the time
I don't roll the dice for anyone
Oh maybe I should tell ya but
every single time
I wish you didn't make it hard
to control my smile
I get butterflies up in my stomach
When I look at you I feel a rush
I cant help it, Dont know what to do
I wanna come out of my shell
Walk right up to you
But I get butterflies all
through my body
I might fly away
I tell myself I can fight it
But one look at your face
I wanna come out of my shell
walk right up to you
But you give me butterflies
Oh you give me butterflies
Ohhh
You give me butterflies
About the song
I co-wrote this song with Jason Mater about one of the very first crushes. I was only about 12 or 13 when I wrote it, and this was my first time ever in a recording studio, and recorded my first song. I also had expert session musicians who came to the studio and we did it together. This is a fun, lighthearted song that resonates with that feeling every girl has -- having a crush at a young age.
